This is the strap of the Monk’s Travel Satchel. 6x72 inches of seed stitch. Very daunting. It feels like it’s going pretty quickly, though.

I taught my mom to knit today! I’m excited, and I hope she takes to it. Her first project is a typical garter stitch scarf, but it is destined to be much better looking than mine. I was the only knitter in the house when I made mine- I had no idea what I was doing and the easist way, I thought, to fix dropped stitches or the like was to tie them together with a piece of thread. Not in a matching color, mind you. Mi madre has me, of course, to come to the rescue whenever she’s slipped a stitch a few rows before or dropped one and had it go running.
