I’ve knit very little of Butterfly’s sleeves, but I have started a sweater that I’ve had the yarn for since Christmas ‘03… Maxwell, a Jaeger pattern. The yarn I’m using is definitely nothing like the recommended yarn- it’s very stretchy, and I’m not sure how it will turn out compared to the picture. I suppose it’s an adventure!

That’s my progress so far. I couldn’t seem to get a good picture of it stretched out, so there’s the scrunched up ribbing.

I’m going to see Tilly and the Wall and Now It’s Overhead tonight! I’m very excited. I’m going to try to stuff my foot into a tap shoe even though my ankle is still too swollen for this to really be feasible..

I honestly don’t know what’s gotten into me- the left front of Butterfly was about 4 inches long on Tuesday of last week, and only a week later I’m finished with both fronts.

I like the random stripey-ness. I’m casting on for the sleeves tonight!

I don’t have a picture of my doily because it hasn’t yet been blocked… while I have been knitting rapidly, I have been devoting most of my time to a research paper- en español! It’s really difficult to write in another language, though I have become an excellent reader.

I bought a pound of Jaggerspun Zephyr in Bottle Green on eBay, and it shipped yesterday. I can’t wait until it arrives and I can begin the Tina Shawl!

I’ve had an exciting few days! On Thursday I went to Hobby Lobby after class and bought some lovely #10 crochet cotton- dark blue- which I fashioned into a small doily yesterday afternoon and this morning. It was quite fun and I can foresee a doily addiction in the near future…

Also on Thursday I cast on for the right front of Butterfly, and it’s almost done now. I finished the left front today. I began to panic, thinking I would not have enough yarn, but when I looked in my cupboard I had two more skeins than I had expected. It’s really surprising me how quickly I’m moving along on this sweater. I like it, I suppose, but it’s also rather unsettling. What happened to my slow, plodding pace? I rather enjoyed the joy of finishing something that took so many months of work. Will it be as satisfying to whip through something?

And now the most exciting part of my weekend- I went to the Woolie Ewe and met Monkee! It was awesome to see in real life that I’ve known for awhile on the Internet. We both truly exist! We are not creepy old internet-stalker-men!

At the Woolie Ewe, I bought two things: the pattern for the Tina Shawl and two skeins of sock yarn in greenish-yellowish-grayish. Anyone notice a color theme? Everything I make is green or blue! I must break this habit! (Well, I have knit a lilac sweater.. and a pink sweater.. and a yellow hat)

I have not yet purchased yarn for the Tina Shawl. I like color. I don’t want white- everyone does Shetland shawls in white or beige. I want something eyecatching! We’ll see.

 Prepare for a many-pictured post!

Last night I finally finished my Monk’s Travel Satchel. The ties add a lot; they bring it all together. It looks a lot more tailored and finished than it did before I sewed them on.

Self-timer gives me time to pose. emoticon

It’s quite nice to have a bag I don’t have to worry about holding onto! I’m very glad to have finally finished the satchel. That strap is over six feet long, though it doesn’t look it now that it’s all sewn up.

And here is my second FO of the day, my Lion Brand Cabled Sweater! I realized that I did not spread out the right side all the way, but it’s 95 degrees outside and there’s no way I’m going back out for another picture.

Yeah, I said 95 degrees. Yeah, I put on this sweater for a picture. How loyal I am to my blog!

Finished two things… on to another project, one I started about a year ago. Anyone remember this?

The back of Butterfy! I finished this piece last June, and last night I picked up the front to start working on again. I love the colors!

I learned several interesting lessons today, including that one should not place cotton bags onto dead grass containing burrs. One should also not put a sweater near a barbed wire fence on a windy day, as they will invariably meet.

Poor little bag, hanging in the corner. It wants an inside pocket and front fastenings, but I have cruelly neglected it in favor of flying along on my green sweater instead.

Pile of cuddly fabric… almost entirely sewn up. One more side and it will be ready to wear. Too bad it’s scorchingly hot outside.

Apparently there’s a knitting group that meets the third Tuesday of every month at the Rowlett library- it’s been going on for about a year; I can’t believe I missed the little notices in the paper. I think I will go tomorrow, though… exciting! I’ve never knit in the company of others!
