Moving my archives to a new site is a very long and tedious process. I haven’t even finished with 2004, in fact. It should get easier in late 2005 and early 2006, as I wasn’t posting much/at all, but I was quite prolific in my early blogging days. (Though I didn’t have much of interest to say, I did post often.)
I’ve been enjoying my little week of summer. I read a book on neuroscience and started a novel, and I have been knitting pretty consistently. My summer piano lessons begin today (there was a little break after recital) and I’m hoping my teacher doesn’t mention my performance. I completely butchered it, and I honestly don’t think I can promise to do better next time, since I practiced incessantly for this one. I wasn’t particularly uncomfortable performing, and I’m certainly not new to that sort of thing with my experience in theatre, but something about people watching me play made me mess up terribly. I wasn’t even all that embarassed- I don’t think I really cared at all beyond those few agonizing moments of searching for my place in the music- and when I came home I played it through perfectly. I play because I like it, not for other people.
I start class at Richland College on Monday. Summer term one I’m taking Spanish 1412, and summer 2 I’m taking trig and economics. I love taking college classes- I actually have the opportunity to learn instead of mere rote memorization. I’m very excited that I’ll get to take all college classes next year, and the freedom of being away from a confining high school campus will also be amazing. The drive might be miserable- it’s about half an hour in no traffic, but in the morning I might have to leave an hour before class starts because of the busy highways. It should be a bit lighter over the summer, at least, so I can get used to driving in traffic.
